FLEA

I know I have abandoned this space for a long while now, and I honestly do feel awful about it. I’ve somehow lacked the inspiration to fill this space up, sad to say.

To make up for this negligence, I’m going to post visuals here.

These ones  are taken during the flea at Haji Lane. I really enjoyed myself then. The organisers were really kind, attentive and accommodating. Great crowd, and we made good sales too.

In the midst of setting up the booth.
Hiding myself behind a prop so that I could munch on fried chicken packed from home! It was already about 3 then, and neither of us had had lunch.
The fuchsia object there is a portable fan. YOU HAVE TO HAVE PORTABLE FANS WHEN YOU DO FLEAS. YOU MUST!!!
My mighty big bow clip from Sportsgirl. Sis hates it cause of the outlandish size. Haha!

SWAP & SHOP FLEA IV

A super dee duper (in Barney the dinosaur’s way) speedy post, just to say …

COME DOWN TO ST. JAMES POWER STATION (OPPOSITE VIVO CITY – this info is especially to non-club goers such as me hahah ok stop it) FOR A FUN FLEA TIME! THE FUN IS HAPPENING ALL THE WAY FROM 11-5PM!

Since Christmas is merely a few days away, exams are over for all and everyone is in the festive mood, there is always that urge to shop and make merry! So why not come on down tomorrow? Come dressed in RED OR GREEN for a chance to snap a photo with Santa. Or, really to just bask in the atmosphere.

Plus, I heard that there’s gonna be IKEA’s famous hotdogs there too. I personally don’t know how they taste like but I heard it’s really good!

And … if you see me, just say hi. I don’t bite, I promise. See you ppppockets.

Sevilla

Hello Pockets!

It´s been a long while. So much stuff has happened over the past week, and when it gets bad I draw strength from the constant reminder that life is short.

Just a short update as I ´steal´some Internet connection from the hotel I´m currently staying in. It´s real gloomy and wet here in Sevilla tonight though it still isn´t half as cold as in Madrid (1 degC), where I was the past few days. I liked Madrid but love Seville for its architecture. There are also lots and lots of mustard coloured buildings around which is definitely a plus in my books. Dinner will be served with a flamenco dance performance later tonight so I´m really looking forward to that! I´ll definitely take tons of pictures on top of the hundreds of snapshots that I´ve already clicked away. Will post them up when I get back!

I´ll be jetting (more like training actually) off to Barcelona tomorrow. Mucho excitedo (not Spanish).

Wishing all of you well wherever you are! xx

FLOCK TO SHOP

Hi Hi! It’s been a mad week for me ever since I landed back home last Friday. So this will just be a quick post to beckon those of you in Singapore to hop on down to Haji Lane anytime from 2pm over the weekend for some flea fun!

Apart from the flocks of new additions to your wardrobe, there will also be fund-raising activities, appearances by local celebrities as well as performances by Starlight Alchemy (ok, as of now I have no idea who they are but that will change tomorrow). The whole strip of Haji Lane will be tented so do come rain or shine! For the party-goers, there will also be Singapore’s first ever street party happening on both days, from 10pm to 3am.

I’ll be having two stalls on the 27th (Saturday), selling mostly pre-loved items that I’ve collected from my massive spring cleaning.

So do drop by and say hi ok thank you! : >

HEAR ME ROAR

Just because I’m feeling a little hyper now, and can’t quite go to bed …

I love this scene, and the movie in general. Female empowerment is a feel-good sensation, and it’s not out to intimidate guys or to prove that we are the ‘better’ gender despite pre-conceived ideas.

I can’t stress how important it is for a girl to have a honey line, a firm support system. I really think that’s what every girl should have (that and maybe a nude bra, because honey, wearing a black bra under a white shirt just isn’t classy).

Thanks to my explorations in Women Studies, it becomes even more stark that women often go against each other.  It precedes utter chaos. Like in the movie Mean Girls, you know?

In a world constructed to be under patriarchal rule, how are women ever going to survive and strive for that promised independence if we constantly pit against one other?

Oops. Random thoughts at 2 am, but food for thought nonetheless.

BREAKING BAD HABITS

I hope all of you out there are coping well. I’m personally drained from everything that has been going on around me, churning out thousands of words for assignments, sitting my sorry bottoms down in the library for 2 weeks straight, 10 hours each time, exams … argh! In any case, my last paper is due soon. Je ne peux pas attendre! That’s something to look forward to, and of course being back home.

Amidst all this craziness, I manage to remain sane by listening to music. I recently came across this amazing Youtube singer, Amy Kuney. The tone of her voice is so rich I am honestly envious. She comes across as an older version of Renee Olstead to me. I wish I had a voice like that. She also makes me miss playing the piano. I think I should start getting acquainted with my scales and scores because it’s been way too long. I’m definitely going to get her album soon!

This song is called Breaking Bad Habits, and it’s such a sad song but pleasant and soothing enough  for you to listen to if you’re stuck indoors even when it’s sunny and promising outside:

No visuals, just good ol’ music.

Holidays are just around the corner you guys. Be positive and look forward cause that’s the only way you can get to places! : >

IF I COULD BE SO PRETTY

{This Glamorous}
{one} using a round brush, blow-dry hair smooth and straight, focusing on the top sections

{two} once dry, use a large-barrel curling iron to create waves from the ears down

{three} build height and volume at the crown by teasing hair gently with a fine-tooth comb

{four} gather hair into a low ponytail; twist it along the nape of your neck, pinning as you go

{five} once you reach your ear, shape the remaining hair into curls, and pin them back over

{six} red, red lips and platform peeptoes and you’re set!

‘Tis the season to be festive, and I think the side chignon is the best way to wear your hair. It’s a very elegant look for  special occasions though I’d personally wear it on ordinary days too! So pretty.
